61439-1 : Low – voltage switchgear and controlgear assemblies
Part 1 : Type tested and partially type-tested assemblies
61439-6 : Low -voltage switchgear and controlgear assemblies
Part 6 : Busbar trunking systems (busways)
2-1. Conductor
Electrical copper having 98% conductivity is used for the copper conductor and electrical aluminum of 60% conductivity for the aluminum conductor. Joints are tin plated. The aluminum conductor costs less and is lighter than the copper conductor.
2-2. Insulator
The insulator of conductor· is provided with of glass-fiber- reinforced-polyester having a large mechanical strength and high electrical and heat resistance. Extra attentions have been given to avoid fires due to rising temperatures and mechanical failures.
2-3. Insulation
The insulation is made of 0.5mm. polyester film witch covers conductors shall be as given in Table 1.
Table 1. Conductor insulation
Insulation material thickness | Tensile strength MPa < kgf / mm2 > | Elongation % | Breakdown strength KV / mm. | Thermal class |
Polyester(t =0.25mm.x2 ) | 147.0 min. < 15 min. > | 60 min | 60 min | B<130 °C> |
2-4. Housing
The housing is a metal case general.ly made of galvanized steel or aluminum.
2-4-1. Degrees of protection of enclosure
– Indoor Busduct : IP 54,55
– Outdoor Busduct : IP 55, 65
2-4-2. Coating
The housing is coated with heat resistant paint having strong rust proofness, smooth surface and luster. The standard color of coating will be (5 Y 7/1)
Temperature rise by rated current
Temperature rise test
Sample: Insulated bus duct, 4W 2000A, Aluminium conductor in steel housing.
An appropriate short-circuit current given in Table 3. Shall be passed for about 1 second by applying AC. Voltage at frequency of 50 or 60 Hz. Connected together after short – circuiting one end of 2 busduct.
